5 Things To do @Stone Mountain

At last, I can tell you about Stone Mountain Park. I had to visit the park twice to be able to spend time in most of the attractions.

Stone mountain is 3,200 acres of natural beauty, it's one of Georgia's most visited attraction, drawing almost 4 million guest a year.  The second time I visited was on a slow day and it gave me the opportunity to explore the place at a slow pace and without a crowd. I had a good time and quite the workout too.  The best thing about Stone Mountain is that it has fun activities for everyone in the family. There is a lot you can do in such wonderful and big place, but no matter what, you must at least do one of the next options.

1. Ride the summit skyline

The summit is open from 10a.m. - 5p.m. 7 days a week. If you're not a fan of being suspended in high altitudes, you can take the trail to the top of the mountain. If you're an athletic person this will take you around 40 minutes. Otherwise, if you're non athletic, like me, the hike will take you 50- 80 minutes. I advise you to wear something breathable and comfortable and bring water, you're going to need it.

2. Camp highland outpost

It is packed with exciting outdoor challenges for the entire family, including rock walls to climb, plus a low ropes course with multiple line bridges. I have not met anyone who is dissatisfied or did not enjoy this attraction. Every kid and adolescent loves it.

3. Geyser Towers

You have suspended rope bridges and net tunnels that connects you to the geyser. It has sporadic eruptions where you or kids can play and cool off. This is perfect for toddlers.

4. Skyhike

SkyHike is my favorite of the attractions, is one of the nation’s largest family adventure courses. You can trek through the treetops while secured to the patented overhead safety system. You can choose different paths and challenge yourself.  Master suspended wooden bridges.  Leap from one wooden slat to another.  Balance on a single rope high above the ground.  Or climb to the top on vertical net bridges. You have control of your trek as you pick from a 12-foot high trail for beginners, a 24-foot high trail for those who are somewhat courageous, and the super challenge trail at nearly 40 feet (or 4 stories) up in the air! This is just packed with a lot of fun activities, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

5. Sunset at the top of the mountain

This is a must.  The summit skyline closes at 5p.m. and unless you get there before it closes, you will have to hike up the mountain. I do have to tell you if you parked your car on the parking lot from the skyline by the time the sun sets, you will have to go down the mountain and walk back to where you parked your car. (25-45min)
